Human Trafficking is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world today. Estimates from the International Labor Organization suggest that there are 2.4 million people around the world who are lured into false labor. The market value of illicit human trafficking is estimated to be in the billions. Here in California, we have three of the top ten worst cities in the United States for labor and sex trafficking, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Tour Against Trafficking seeks to not only raise awareness about Human Trafficking in the San Joaquin Valley, but also to raise funds for organizations that are seeking to end trafficking in our state. The ride will work to connect groups and nonprofits in our communities, build coalitions and highlight anti-human trafficking legislation in the legislature.

The tour will be an ecumenical effort and event, and ecumenical in the broadest sense of the word.  The inclusion of all people is the intention and priority for The Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin and this approach is applied to The Tour Against Trafficking.  Our inclusive approach will encompass people from different working sectors and different walks of life.  People of faith and faith-not-realized will be involved in the Tour from beginning to end. And we will work together to stand against human trafficking.  Only by working together can we diminish people exploiting other people for profit.
